Get More Traffic, Sales and Subscribers By Submitting Your Articles to Directories

If you have a website you're no doubt constantly wondering "How can I get more traffic to my website?". As web owners we constantly want more traffic, especially if we're doing business online. It's just the nature of things because without traffic a website can't survive. Whether we want more subscribers, more customers or just more visitors to read our content -- and possibly click on our AdSense ads ;) -- it's what we crave: More traffic.

Well, how CAN you get more traffic to your website? There are various methods available, some cost money, some are free, some take a second to do and some can take a long time. What I'm doing to talk about is writing and distributing articles - submitting articles to article directories to be exact. Because it's 100% free and doesn't have to take a lot of time.

No matter what market you are in you should be able to find a subject to write about that your potential subscribers, customers or visitors would be interested in -- and if your article gets read you will most likely get traffic. Plus, you could also get some nice backlinks to your website which is of course always good for search engine rankings. I'll explain the reason behind that later on.

Now, you might not consider yourself a writer but writing an article doesn't have to be hard. It doesn't even have to be long -- 300-400 words per article could be enough if you get your point across even though 600-900 words is more common (but 1200 is usually the maximum).

If you know your market and you're passionate about what you're doing then writing an article shouldn't be a problem. If you need ideas go to forums and blogs in your niche or just see if there is anything in the news you could write about. Also, one trick is to do it like you're writing a letter to a good friend where you're telling him about something specific.

Another solution, if you have no interest in writing an article or just don't have the time, you can let someone else do it. You could go to freelance sites like elance.com, rentacoder.com or guru.com and pay someone to write an article for you. But you should have some idea what it should be about.

Let's assume that you have your article. Next thing you want to do is find article directories that accept articles on your topic and submit to as many as you can find. To find article directories you can go to your favorite search engine and type in "article directory" or "submit article". That should give you a few general directories.

These are some of my favorite directories:
http://www.goarticles.com
http://www.ezinearticles.com

But if you want to find an article directory that is specific to your market you should search for "X article directory" or "submit X article" - where X is the market you're in (like "gardening" or "health").

Then, when you're on the site look for "Submit an article" or "Add article". Make sure you read all the submission guidelines - some sites allow HTML codes and some don't, some places allow affiliate links and some don't, etc. Usually the article directory is organized into many categories and even subcategories. Try to select the category that best fits your article - it'll help with getting your article approved as fast as possible as well as giving you more targeted readers.

If you're not experienced in article marketing you might not realize the benefit of publishing your articles. First of all, you'll get your name displayed all over the internet - people will start to recognize it and trust you.

But the main reason so many people want to get their article in as many directories as possible is because of the "resource box" or "about the author" that is displayed at the end of the article.

That resource box can contain the name of your business, your mailing address, web address (to your main page or an opt-in page, etc.), e-mail address, phone number or however you want people to contact you or learn more about you and your business. For some people the link to their website is the most important part of their resource box.

Most article directories allow "active links" in the resource box that people can click on. You definitely want to submit to as many of those directories as you can because for each one you'll get another link back to your website - and that will help you rank higher in the search engines.

Another benefit of this is that if you've written a good article that people like they'll be more likely to click on the link in your resource box - hint, hint ;). They might also feel like they've gotten to know you a little and trust you - which means they're more likely to do business with you.

A well written article will probably also be picked up by more website owners and newsletter editors - giving you more exposure and traffic. But you don't have to write a masterpiece the first time - just get started and you'll get better with each article you write.

So, to get more traffic, sales and subscribers you should get yourself an article about a subject related to your market (either write it yourself or have it written for you by a ghostwriter), find article directories that accept your topic and submit to as many of them that you can find.

Get All That Your Words Are Worth With Article Submissions

Article directories have been around for years, offering content and information for webmasters, ezine writers and email newsletters. The benefits of submitting your writing to article directories are easy enough to understand:

1. You trade on your credibility as an expert – and increase it at the same time. When you write a short, informative piece about your business, your author’s biography gives you credibility – you know what you’re talking about because it’s what you do for a living. When your article is published on an independent web site like an article directory, though, your credibility increases – you’re now recognized as an expert by others. That encourages others to republish your article – and give you yet more credibility.
2. You leverage the popularity of the article submission site to boost the visibility of your article – with a link back to your web site. A link to your site from one of the most popular article directories can give your web site traffic a substantial boost.
3. By making your article available for reprinting (as long as the author’s information with the link to your web site remains intact), you increase the visibility and the link popularity of your web site even further.
4. If your article is picked up by a newsletter or ezine publisher, the link to your website goes out to potentially tens of thousands of people.

The end result is more traffic to your web site and more credibility, trust and sales for your company.

The down side is that it takes precious time – and your time is a valuable commodity. Submitting your article by hand to even a dozen of the hundreds of article directories and ezine publishers can take several hours. Every directory service has unique formatting requirements. Some allow links in the article body – others only allow them in the resource box. Some allow you to use HTML to accent important points; others will only accept plain text. If you count those hours at your own rate of pay, your ‘free’ advertising could end up costing you a whole lot more than you expected.

The Easy Way To Make Your Words Work For You
The answer is to take one of two easy ways out – article submission services and article submission tools. Either one will simplify the process of getting your words out there where others can pick them up and spread the word about your company.

- Article Submission Tools
You can purchase software that will do the actual submission for you. You’ll still need to configure the software to some degree, but once you have your article set up and your list of article directories set up, the actual submission process is as simple as clicking on a button.

- Article Submission Services
Article submissions services will submit your article for you at a set price per article. The best will cull the list of article directories and publishers to find the ones that will give your article the most visibility and submit it by hand to make sure that everything is done right. The personal touch can make the difference in whether an article is accepted on the first try – or at all. All you need to do is send them your articles – they’ll do the rest.

Whether you choose automation or the personal touch, you’ll find that the process of submitting your article to all the best directories is incredibly simple. Your company will reap the benefits of everything your words are worth.

Fueling The Ideal - Marketing With Articles

It's that time of year again ... pages of backpacks, notebooks and back-to-school clothing fill every circular that hits your mailbox.  And you're off to the races ... the races being the mall, plus every other store in between.<br><br>

You're in the same spot you were last year this time, getting ready to head off to work while your kids head off to school. Back to hugging them goodbye in the morning and seeing them just long enough in the evening to say I love you and tuck them in.<br><br>

Wouldn't it be fantastic if the easier schedule of the summer lasted all year long?  No more spending all your hours away from your kids just to earn enough money to cover the essentials and pay daycare?<br><br>

Take it from someone who knows both sides of the deal here and believe that there's no time like right now to make the transition from the regular grind to working from home.  As the proud Mom of a 2005 honors graduate who's heading off to college soon, I know first hand what a major impact working from home has had on his success.<br><br>

When my son was very young, I worked a full-time job away from home, plus at least one part-time job on weekends.  This meant that my son was in daycare while I worked.  As a single parent who didn't receive child support (for years) though, I had no other choice. <br><br>

A few years later in the 1990's, I decided there had to be a better way so I started a part-time medical billing service from my home.  This allowed me to give up the outside part-time job and gave me the practical means of earning the much-needed income.  Best of all, it gave me the priceless opportunity to take care of my son while I worked.  I quickly saw that I was onto something great here ... what a concept! <br><br>

I moved from the east coast to California with my son in 1995 where my first full-time job was with a consulting firm co-owned by a professional speaker.  After some negotiations with my boss, we entered into an agreement by which I would work mornings in the office, leave to pick up my son from school in the afternoons and work from home the rest of the day.  It worked out incredibly well ... so well in fact, that in 2000, I decided to leave the consulting firm and start my own full-time home based virtual assistant business.<br><br>

Starting from scratch, I knew that gaining exposure for my business was essential if I wanted to be successful in my new venture.  I also knew that traditional forms of marketing are very expensive and quickly gobble up the profits, particularly in the early stages.  However, I also remembered a technique that I used successfully for my former employer.<br><br>

Besides being a consultant and professional speaker, he was also an author, so his goals included increasing his number of speaking engagements and selling more copies of his books.  He hoped to accomplish these goals by establishing himself as an expert in his industry, which meant having his work published by every major magazine in his field.<br><br>

Committed to accomplishing his goals, he gave me a list of those publications, so I drafted a query letter based on one of his story ideas and e-mailed it to the editor of one of the magazines.  The editor responded in short notice and offered my employer an article assignment.  They published my boss's article soon afterwards and featured it on the cover of the magazine, producing an onslaught of calls to the office!<br><br>

Writing and submitting that one article produced several paid speaking engagements.  This new marketing intrigue fascinated me, so I fine-tuned my article submission process creating logs and checklists, and within a few months, my boss had accomplished his goal of publication in every magazine on his list!  <br><br>

Even online and in-print publications we hadn't contacted began calling and e-mailing in request of articles.  The results of writing and submitting articles was so successful that we put other major marketing techniques on hold so my boss could travel to his paid speaking engagements.<br><br>

As my interest and experience grew in this area of marketing, I knew that if it worked for my boss that it would work for other professionals as well.  Soon, I was earning over half my income handling article submissions for other professionals.<br><br>

Then I realized that if this technique worked for other professionals that it would work for me too in building my own business.  And it has worked for me!<br><br>

This same marketing technique, which I call marketing with articles, has been the success behind my own business.  I've used it to expand my client base and build my virtual assistance business into a solid income-generating company, which has allowed me to work full-time at home for the past five years. As my son is getting ready to leave for college, my personal goal now is to help other parents be successful in achieving their career goals while living the dream of staying home with their children.<br><br>

The concept of marketing with articles does not require a professional writer.  Anyone can be successful in building their business and gaining credibility as an expert in their industry or area of expertise by writing and submitting free reprint articles to online and in-print publications.  The key to success is in reaching your target audience with resourceful information that is valuable to them.<br><br>

Editors of both online and in-print publications are in constant demand of quality content for their readers.  They have a continuing need to publish content that appeals directly to their target audience, which is where you come in.  By writing and submitting free reprint articles to publications that reach readers in your market, you have the opportunity to establish yourself as an expert and gain a generous amount of exposure for your business. <br><br>

True, you aren't earning money for actually writing the articles, but you are earning a huge payoff here.  Not only do you establish your credibility as an expert in your industry or area of expertise, but you    earn significant exposure for yourself and your business.  Most editors will include your byline with your articles, which gives you the opportunity to include your name and contact information, plus the URL of your web site.  Readers come to recognize your name and relate it with certain topics.  The more articles you write and submit, the more exposure you gain!<br><br>

The marketing with articles technique helped turn my dream of working from home full-time into a precious reality that has made a positive impact for both my son and me.  As he goes off to college, he'll be leaving with all the benefits of having had a mom who found a way to support him financially without the high cost of being away from him all day.  Me, I'll have the benefit of knowing that the bittersweet wind I'm putting beneath his wings comes from my deepest desires for his complete success! <br><br>

Google Adsense: The Google Adsense Report and Why the Program is Original

Understanding the Google Adsense Report

When you log into your Google Adsense account, you are automatically taken to the page where you can view all your Adsense activity.  On the Reports tab, you’ll see “Today’s Earnings.”  This is the approximate amount you have earned today in your Google Adsense account.  Earnings are not final at this point and could be adjusted for invalid clicks or fees.

It’s interesting to look at the breakdown.  As you can see, Adsense for Content, which refers to the targeted ads appearing on the pages in which you have written content, is listed first.  Here you will see the number of page impressions listed in the first column.  While a page impression is generally the same as a page view, that is not always the case.  For a more detailed definition of a page impression, see Google Adsense support, click on Your Adsense Account and then click on Your Adsense Report.

Next, you’ll notice the number of clicks.  This refers to the number of times “your ads” were clicked on.

Page click through rate or CTR is in the next column shown as a percentage. It represents the percentage of the time an ad was clicked on after viewing your page.

Page eCPM which stands for effective cost per thousand impressions.  It is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of page impressions in thousands.

Don’t be intimidated by these statistics.  The bottom line, your earnings, is what really counts.  As you become more familiar with Google Adsense, statistics will become like second nature.  First, just start.

How is Google Adsense Different From Other Ad Networks?

Primarily because it is Google and that carries a lot of clout just with name recognition alone.  But here are some advantages to being a part of the Google Adsense network:

Getting started is fast and easy and requires no technical knowledge.  Google Adsense even provides html code for easy implementation with clear instructions.

Google Adsense has both the Adsense for Content feature and the Adsense for Search feature.

Google Adsense not only provides keyword targeted ads but site targeted ads as well, maximizing your potential for revenue.

Google Adsense provides a filter so that you can choose not to run your competitor’s ads on your pages as well as filter other unwanted ads.

Google Adsense provides an extensive support site that is easily understood.
